Alicia Powell
M.D., MSCP
I am a board-certified adult psychiatrist with over thirty years of experience. Additionally, I am trained in the assessment and treatment of symptoms associated with perimenopause and menopause. Many people experiencing poor sleep and energy, increased anxiety and mood issues benefit from a comprehensive evaluation— one informed by psychiatric knowledge and expertise in the midlife transition.
As I have grown my midlife psychiatry practice, it’s become clear that patients with these concerns need more time with their specialist than the 15 minute visit that exists in our current health care system. These are intimate and personal discussions that take time and attention to detail. Our first visit will be 90 minutes, and follow-up visits are 30 minutes long. I strive to educate and empower my patients to maximize their health now and in their future. I also work with other practitioners to share knowledge and close the health care gap for patients with problems with perimenopause and menopause transitions.
I earned my medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine. I completed an internship in internal medicine and neurology, followed by a residency in adult psychiatry, both at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. I am a diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and a Menopause Society certified practitioner. I am licensed to practice in Massachusetts and currently have a telemedicine-only practice.
